Music at the Market – Saturday, June 21st

This week we’ll have four straight hours of music, starting with Gef Fisher on the classical guitar from 9:00am to 11:00am. Last week, a very young listener sat attentively just in front of the guitar case while Gef played several pieces – Gef’s music appeals to an audience of all ages! And Sato Matsui, locally-renowned violinist, will play from 11:00am to 1:00pm. This will be Sato’s final appearance at the market until August. In the meantime, she’ll be busking in outdoor venues in Paris! more

This Saturday only, he’ll offer prize iris rhizomes to beautify your flower garden for years to come. He plans to bring current blooms to show the color expected. And if you’re not an iris expert, he’ll gladly give you a tutorial on how to start with rhizomes – defined as horizontal, underground plant stems capable of producing the shoot and root systems of a new plant. more

Also handmade soaps with local botanicals. Guild members bring decades of experience teaching and providing demonstrations at nearby schools and museums, including Hancock Shaker Village. Each week they’ll offer a demonstration of a fiber art, inviting folks of all ages to join in. more

Our early local produce offerings include spring greens and asparagus, and many other offerings will delight! At the May 31st market, you’ll find:

Bring on the Pulled Pork and Barbecue in a Jar!

Our returning vendor, Hoosick Hickory, is now offering delicious pulled pork sliders as well as an entire barbecue meal “in a jar”! A clever variation on take-out food, this 3-layer meal is served in a pint or half-pint jar. Layers include home-cooked baked beans, pulled pork, and cole slaw. The lengthy process involved in preparing the pulled pork includes smoking with Hoosick’s own hickory bark chips, slow roasting in the oven, pulling, and finally smothering in hickory-infused barbecue sauce. All the effort is worth it!
